International Geopark Camp for Youth – Summer 2026

The UNESCO Global Geopark Muskauer Faltenbogen / Łuk Mużakowa invites applications for the 6th International Geopark Camp for Youth (IGC), taking place from 25 July – 1 August 2026.

We are looking for motivated school classes or youth groups (ages 15–17) from UNESCO Global Geoparks who are interested in geology, climate change and international exchange.

Camp Topic 2026: “Geology meets Geological Witnesses of Climate Change”

Participants will explore geological evidence of past climate and environmental change in their own geopark regions before coming to Germany/Poland. Supported by a teacher and local geopark staff, each group will develop a small research project including basic scientific research, documentation (photos/videos), and a short written contribution.

During the camp week in Geopark Muskauer Faltenbogen / Łuk Mużakowa, students will take part in field trips and hands-on workshops, exchange their research results with international peers, explore a unique glacial landscape within a German-Polish UNESCO region, and experience intercultural collaboration in an inspiring camp atmosphere.

Who Can Apply?

Each participating geopark is expected to form a group of five students between 15 and 17 years of age, accompanied by one supervising teacher. In addition, one or two geopark staff members should provide scientific support and guidance during the preparation phase.

Important Information

The application deadline is 13 March 2026. The camp will take place from 25 July to 1 August 2026 and will be conducted in English. All programme costs, including accommodation, full board, materials and entrance fees, will be covered by the UNESCO Global Geopark Muskauer Faltenbogen / Łuk Mużakowa. A travel subsidy will also be provided.
